"Daughter of Thor" is the story of Mathilde, a young female Goth determined to overcome social biases and tribal infighting to unite the fractured Germanic tribes against the expansive Roman Empire.
Ignored as a potential warrior because of her gender and steered toward academia instead, Mathilde trains herself covertly with sword and javelin. Upon learning that she is descended from a woman exiled as a witch a hundred years earlier, she incorporates the secrets passed on through the women of her ancestry into a grueling mental and physical regimen.
Mathilde's introductory tour of Goth territory is cut short by the invasion of the Huns, a tribal horde that had already overrun several nations to the east. Mathilde accelerates her campaign to organize the Goths against an enemy even more formidable than the Romans, only to find that suspicion of her motives, long-standing tribal feuds, and personal resentment stand in her way.
Worn down, disillusioned, and her personal life in ruins, Mathilde is called upon once more, this time to help old allies against the Roman treachery she had predicted long ago. No one had listened back then, and now it appeared too late for anyone, Mathilde included, to stop the inevitable massacre of tens of thousands of Goths.
It doesn't take Mathilde long to see the familiar, self-destructive patterns of infighting and short-sightedness in her fellow Goths. She grows more resentful and selfish in a desire to pursue her own interests rather than help those who seem unable to help themselves.
In the year 2040, the leading players in the space race are redrawing traditional power lines. Several smaller groups, with capalities most would categorize as science fiction, serve as catalysts both in advancing science and escalating tensions.
Three siblings with a unique family tradition are in position to put the pieces together, but before they can, a single event changes everything. With governments collapsing on a daily basis, they find themselves caught in the middle of a power struggle between rogue military and corporate factions that will define how, or if, humanity will adjust to the abrupt change in its course.
