Past Projects

Autonomous Vehicles

Take a vehicle. Slap some sensors on it. Hook the sensors up to hardware and software control systems, and voila! Autonomous robot. I've designed much of the hardware, and written considerable code, in getting several of these things up and running/flying.

Biobots

My first application of control theory to artificial intelligence, I used microprobes to stimulate nerve centers in living insects, and strain gauges to record the responses. I then combined the results to duplicate the behaviors in mechanical versions of the insects in question.

Present Projects

True Game AI

I'm not a big fan of traditional AI, which uses rather unintelligent database structures and search algorithms to fake it. I employ such devices for random event generation, but I base my NPC AI on actual cognitive and linguistic theory, with emphasis on collective behaviors in developing and operating a dynamic gaming universe.

Biobrain

The logical progression from a biobot is a biobrain. The idea is to fully model, electronically and mechanically, exactly how an insect's brain works. This is, of course, easier said than done. Once this project with no end in sight is done, all that's left to do is multiply by a billion or so and human androids are a done deal.
